Who Pays for Hospice?
At AutumnCare Health Services in Stafford, Texas, we provide you with information on every aspect of hospice care. Allow us to share what we know with you.
Patients suffering from chronic and life-limiting illnesses and those with terminal conditions do not have to pay for hospice care. Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans cover hospice care services.
The beneficiaries can then enjoy various services to address their hospice care needs. Such needs also have to be medically ascertained by the primary care physician to make the patient eligible for hospice care coverage.
If the patient enters remission or there is an improvement in the disease condition, the physician may discharge the patient from hospice care services. This is when the patient is said to have graduated from the hospice care program.
When the patient graduates from hospice care, the coverage shifts back to the previous benefits before getting hospice care.
